Classes
The San Jose Buddhist Judo Club is open to the public for male and female students 6 years and older. We will accept 5 year old students if another member of the family is a current member and if there is an opening available. Classes for new students start on the first two practices of each month. The San Jose Buddhist Judo Club is open to the public for male and female students 6 years and older. We will accept 5 year old students if another member of the family is a current member and if there is an opening available. Classes for new students start on the first two practices of each month. One time enrollment fee - $25.00 Our club is a member of the United States Judo Federation and all members are required to purchase insurance through a USJF membership. The cost is $50.00 and is valid for one year from the date of purchase. A Waiver and Release of Liability and Agreement to Participate form must be signed by all students or parent/guardian of students under 18 years of age. The cost of the uniform (gi) ranges from $40.00 to $80.00 depending on size and are available for purchase at the club. To enroll, please come to our dojo during the regular practice time and sign up at the desk. Practice Time
The Judo practices are held every MONDAY and THURSDAY evening from 7:00 – 9:00 P.M. at the Buddhist Church Betsuin of San Jose Gymnasium, 640 North Fifth Street, San Jose, CA 95112. Judo practices are continuous year-round with the exception of a summer and winter break. Practice sessions are moved to another venue during the summer months due to activities at the church. Our Sensei (instructors) are volunteers, and are not paid for the many hours
they devote each week to teaching our students. Among the instructors, there
are many years of experience and expertise. They are well qualified to teach
